Hospice Norwood is curently offering community programs and services. At this time, we do not have Hospice beds at Stewart House. Our hope for the future is to build a new wing with a 2-bed Hospice residence where people will be able to receive around-the-clock care in their last days or weeks of life. Since 2016, our Board of Directors has been passionately advocating to bring Hospice Care to Norwood and the surrounding areas. We continue to diligently apply to the provincial government to receive approval and funding to develop 24-7 residence care. We are aware that the process for securing funding for Hospice beds is lengthy, so in Partnership with Hospice Peterborough, we are able to provide a large range of community Hospice and palliative care services and programs for those with life-limiting illness, their caregivers and those who are grieving a loss. Programs Include:

  • - Volunteer visting/respite
  • - Grief Support
  • - Caregiver Support
  • - Illness Support
  • - A growing community library and resource centre and more!
Our goal at Hospice Norwood is to provide a supportive environment where individuals and families facing life-limiting illness, caregiving and the chanllenges of grief can find comfort, guidance, assistance and understanding. In partnership with Hospice Peterborough, clients and their families can access the Palliative Care Community Team which includes access to Palliative Nurse Navigators and Supportive Care Counsellors.

All Hospice programs and services are offered at no cost to the client or their family. Our funding comes from the Ministry of Long-Tern Care, grants, and the generous donations of community members. Registration for groups, programs or events can be made by:

  • - Calling Hospice Norwood at (705) 660-3737 or Hospice Peterborough (705) 742-4042
  • - Dropping by Steward House anytime the flag is out

Hospice Norwood offers support to any individuals and families impacted by life-limiting illness and grief. You and/or the person you are caring for do not need to be considered palliative to access our programs and services.
